Front Porch Makeover with Natural Wood Exterior Wall Panels | RichVaugh
A plain brick exterior can look clean and solid, but it can also feel unfinished when large surfaces are left empty. For many homeowners, the front porch, garage surround, porch ceiling, and raised platform area are the first places people notice from the street. Adding the right exterior finish can make the entire home feel warmer, more modern, and more complete.
In this RichVaugh project, our exterior slat wall panels were used in several key areas of the home exterior, including the garage surround, porch ceiling, front entrance area, exterior columns, and the space below the raised platform. Together, these details help create a cleaner architectural look and improve the home’s curb appeal.

Where Exterior Slat Wall Panels Were Used
Exterior slat wall panels can be used in more than one part of a home’s exterior. In this RichVaugh project, we used Exterior Wall Panels Natural Wood 190 across different areas, including the garage surround, porch ceiling, front entrance, exterior columns, and the space below the raised platform.
This product comes in three slat spacing options, Natural Wood 140,Natural Wood 170 and Natural Wood 190 from narrow to wide. For most outdoor projects, the wider spacing is often recommended because it creates a stronger visual effect on large exterior surfaces. If a cleaner or more detailed look is preferred, narrower spacing options are also available.

The garage exterior is one of the main highlights. The vertical Natural Wood panels around the garage door help frame the garage and turn a simple brick wall into a modern exterior feature. Compared with a plain brick or flat painted surface, the slat design adds rhythm, depth, and a stronger custom-built appearance.

The front entrance and exterior columns also use matching panels to connect the garage, porch, and seating area. This makes the home feel more coordinated instead of having separate materials that do not visually connect.
The area below the raised platform was also finished with matching Exterior Wall Panels Natural Wood. This detail is important because the underside of a porch or deck can often look unfinished if left exposed. By using the same exterior panels below the platform, the whole front exterior looks cleaner, more polished, and more intentional.

The porch ceiling and side wall uses the same wood-look exterior panels to create a warm soffit-style finish. Without this detail, the ceiling area could feel flat and plain. With the panels installed, the entrance feels more welcoming and visually complete.
Compared with a plain brick exterior, the finished design feels warmer, more modern, and more layered. The wood-look slat texture softens the brick, while the vertical lines add architectural detail without making the exterior look too busy.
