For Canadian designers and commercial project teams looking at wood slat ceiling ideas, there are a few useful details here. The ceiling pattern, lights and wall edges all need to be considered together.

Follow one clear direction

The ceiling strips run in one direction. That repeated line is the main feature when you look up. It also gives the small room a different feel from a plain flat ceiling.

Before choosing a layout, look at the room from the entrance and from each seat. Draw the strip direction on the ceiling plan. Check where it meets the wall, doorway and any change in ceiling height.

Place the lights with the ceiling layout

In this photo, long white light fittings sit between the wood-look strips. Small black lights hang lower. A warm light line follows the top of the wall.

These are three different details, but the dark background helps them sit together. For a new layout, mark the lights, vents, sprinklers and access points before deciding the spacing. Have the relevant trades confirm their locations and clearances.
