Whole-Home Wall Panel Makeover in Toronto: From Builder Basic to Boutique Hotel

When most people think about a “full home renovation”, they imagine weeks of dust, trades coming in and out, and a very big budget. For this Toronto family home, the owners wanted a fresh, modern look – but without tearing down walls or doing a full gut job.

Instead of traditional drywall repairs and repainting, they chose a different path: using modern wall panels from RichVaugh Wall Panel, a Toronto wall panel supplier, to upgrade key areas of the house. With a mix of slat wall panels, smooth interior panels and marble-look wall panels, the entire home now feels brighter, warmer and much more high-end.

Project Overview: A Tired Home Ready for a Refresh

This project is located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The house was still in good condition structurally, but the walls looked dated: plain builder paint, some dents and marks, and no focal points in the main rooms.

The homeowners had three main goals:

  • Create a better first impression at the entry.
  • Build a modern TV feature wall that works with the existing windows.
  • Add warmth and a “hotel lobby” feeling in the main living area.

Rather than spending money on messy drywall work and multiple layers of paint, they decided to invest in wall panels that:

  • Cover imperfections on the existing walls.
  • Add texture and design without major construction.
  • Can be installed in days, not weeks.

Entry Hall: First Impressions with Slat & Smooth Wall Panels

The first area we transformed was the entry hallway. This space sets the tone for the entire home, but originally it was just a plain white wall next to the front door.

We installed a combination of beige slat wall panels on the corner and matching smooth interior wall panels behind the round mirror. The vertical slats make the ceiling feel higher and draw the eye up, while the flat panel keeps the centre clean and simple.

Now, when you open the door, you see:

  • Warm wood tones that match the flooring and trim.
  • A designer-style round mirror framed by modern wall panels.
  • A hallway that feels finished and custom, not builder-basic.

For homeowners in Toronto condos and narrow houses, this type of entry treatment is a very efficient upgrade. It doesn’t require moving walls or changing the layout – just smart use of slat wall panels and colour.

Living Room TV Feature Wall with Marble-Look & Slat Panels

The main living room had a TV and two windows on each side, but the wall itself felt empty and disconnected. The challenge was to create a strong focal point without blocking the natural light.

The solution was a custom TV feature wall using:

  • Marble-look large wall panels in the centre, behind the TV and soundbar.
  • Soft beige slat wall panels running from floor to ceiling on both sides.
  • A floating media cabinet with a modern chevron pattern to keep the floor area clean.

The marble-look panel adds a luxury stone effect without the weight, cost or installation difficulty of real stone slabs. The vertical slats frame the TV and also echo the design language from the entry hallway, tying the rooms together visually.

Because our panels are designed for the Canadian climate, they stay stable even with seasonal humidity changes in Toronto and the GTA. No grout lines, no cracking – just a smooth, easy-to-clean surface.

Wood Wall Panels in the Family Room: Warm & Cozy Media Space

In the family room, the homeowners wanted a warmer, more relaxed feeling – something like a modern hotel lounge or private cinema.

Here we used warm wood grain wall panels across the entire TV wall, broken up with slim vertical metal trims. A simple black floating cabinet was added under the TV to keep the floor open and make the wall feel lighter.

The result is:

  • A long, continuous wall of wood panels that makes the room feel wider.
  • A clean backdrop for the TV, Christmas tree and future decor changes.
  • A space that looks “high-end custom” but was achieved mainly with wall panels.

Because there is no paint involved on this wall, the family doesn’t have to worry about scuff marks or touch-ups. Most fingerprints and everyday marks can be wiped off with a damp cloth.

Installation Time: A Faster Way to “Renovate” a Whole House

One of the biggest advantages of using wall panels instead of traditional renovations is speed. For projects like this, our partner installers can often complete each feature wall in about a day, depending on wall size and electrical work.

Compared to full drywall and carpentry work, homeowners get:

  • Much less dust and noise.
  • No need to move out of the house.
  • A finished, designed look in days instead of weeks.

For busy families in Toronto, Markham, Richmond Hill, Scarborough and Mississauga, this “panel-first” approach is an ideal way to upgrade the home room by room.

Materials Used in This Project

This whole-home makeover used several different types of panels from our Toronto warehouse:

All panels were supplied by RichVaugh Wall Panel and installed over existing walls, with minimal disruption to the family.
